WWII INFANTRY GERMAN WEAPONS & ORDNANCE

PREFACE

In this 208-page volume, we present a definitive reference on WWII German Infantry Weapons and Ordnance in a structured, highly accessible format, enabling every modeller to assemble and paint their selected kits with maximum accuracy and ease. To achieve historical fidelity, a builder requires three key components: comprehensive coverage of each weapon system, high-resolution colour reference photography, and precise, step-by-step painting instructions.

Our colour callouts primarily reference Vallejo products, reflecting their status as the world’s most widely used acrylic range for military modelling. What truly sets this book apart, however, is the inclusion of exhaustive paint equivalence conversion matrices matching these core shades across 19 additional paint lines spanning acrylics, enamels, and oils:

-Acrylics & Enamels: Vallejo, Lifecolor, Andrea Miniatures, The Army Painter (Warpaints Fanatic), Green Stuff World, Kimera Kolors, Scale75 (Regular & Tube Acrylics), AK-Interactive (3rd Gen & Tube Acrylics), Tamiya (Enamel & Acrylic), Humbrol (Enamel & Acrylic), and Revell (Aqua Colour & Enamel).

-Oils: AK Interactive Abteilung 502, Winsor & Newton, Rembrandt, AMMO by Mig Jimenez, and Scale75 (FLOWW Oils).

Leveraging modern publishing tools has allowed us to craft what is perhaps the most ambitious modelling guide in the history of Mr Black Publications - a project that would have otherwise been virtually impossible to realize. Within these pages, readers will find an all-in-one resource; a definitive “bible” for WWII German small arms and crew-served equipment.

Master Artist Stelios Demiras has gathered every crucial element required to succeed in one of the most demanding aspects of miniature modelling: accurately replicating WWII German weapons and ordnance for figures, vignettes, and dioramas. Over 500 high-quality photographs cover the modeller’s every need, showcasing original weapons in exquisite detail, historical archive imagery, critical production data, precise camouflage patterns, and operational timelines.

The first 120 pages form the core technical reference of WWII German weapons and ordnance. Pages 121 through 196 showcase various scale modelling projects in 1/35 and 1/16 scales. Here, the book features the latest dedicated accessory sets currently on the market alongside classic, out-of-production kits that can still be sourced through secondary markets. Demonstrating a masterclass combination of airbrush and paintbrush techniques to extract the absolute best from each medium, these builds are illustrated through detailed step-by-step photographs with comprehensive explanatory captions.

The final pages feature a dedicated Appendix covering Foreign & Captured Weapons & Ordnance in German Service, complete with official German designations, operational usage context, and quick-reference painting guides.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the following individuals and organizations whose support was instrumental in bringing this work to fruition: Andrea Miniatures (Alexandra Fernandez), Eduard - Model Accessories (Jan Zdiarsky), Vallejo Acrylics (Alex Vallejo & Jaume Ortiz Forns), Scale75 (Alicia Manzanero & Selu Casanova), Miniart (Ben Mirson), Master box (Oleksandr Surzhenko & Maryna Surzhenko), Kimera Kolors (Luca Marchetti & Pietro Balloni), Lifecolor (Alessandro Balbo & Rolando Iezzi), and last but not least, our English Text Editor, Ken Jones.

We hope this volume exceeds your expectations and serves as an indispensable tool on your workbench.
